Buddy Reading- An Explanation

Dear Reader,

If you’ve not noticed in my book reviews. I have a bookstagram. I made this account a few months ago now and have met the most amazing people through it- and some amazing authors too. One of the friends whom I’ve made is the lovely Kendal-Elizabeth. Her account is gorgeous as well as the books she reads. After finding out we have a mutual love for The Spiderwick Chronicles ,and finding a beautiful copy of all the books, we both buddy read it.

This is my second buddy read and I have to say at first I was a bit confused to what it was. But now I completely get it. I think it’s a brilliant idea also.

 What is buddy reading?

It is basically having a partner to read a novel with you. This doesn’t mean they have to be physically there to read the book with you. They could be reading it from across the globe or sat two feet away from you. This is the concept which I really like, you could be countries apart yet both reading the same novel and discovering the same chapters. It’s a lovely thought. It’s also so easy- as long as you talk to the person you are buddy reading with.

Why you should do it?

I  love it because it means you have someone to talk to about a book. Whether or not you love or hate it. It’s always good to have someone to fangirl with, am I right? I think a big factor as well to why I like it so much as an idea is the fact that it encourages you to read. I know for a fact I didn’t want to keep being behind so I was trying to read a few chapters whenever and wherever I could. Buddy reading is something that could also be done with a younger and older child- to encourage them to read more advance books and also have help. I know I’d love to buddy read more in the future and have really enjoyed the one which Kendal-Elizabeth and my one discovering Outlander with April.

My copy of the chronicles can be bought at The Book People.

My copy of the chronicles can be bought at The Book People. It’s beautiful and contains hidden chapters and extra artwork.

In conclusion, you should get buddy reading with whoever. Be it your best friend or a friend across the globe. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and if you’re a newbie like me- you’ll know exactly what it means! If any of you are buddy reading at the moment please let me know what books you are reading in the comments below.

It’s an amazing way to meet new people and discover different aspects of a book that you might not have seen before! Lovely post as always my dear.

  • Sounds like you’re really enjoying buddy-reading! 🙂 It’s never really appealed to me – probably because I have a tendency of reading 91374785 books at once and just grabbing the one I feel like reading at any given time! 🙂 Glad you’re enjoying it though 🙂

    • I have a lot of books on the go but it did really motivate me to get more organised and things. Thank you!
